2005 Ford Five Hundred

Comfortable but big
It is a roomy car, especially in the back and the trunk but it is a bit of a gas guzzler. It is also longer than I am used to, this car is a "guys" car as I find it also clunky to drive. I am a 5ft 2in woman, which is why I feel that it is more of a "guys" car. I wish I had bought something more compact but I must say that I am generally pleased with it.

Great Chassis, Well Matched Drivetrain
Compliant ride, handles excellent when pushed to the limit. Acceleration off the line is average but once the engine gets into the power band the CVT transmission does an excellent job keeping it right there maximizing the HP and Torque! The 3.0L and CVT are a great match, solid performance and proven reliability. Awesome highway ride!

A Great Car.
I Love this car. I wish I didn't have to sell it. Owned by an elderly driver and is no longer needed. I got it from a Ford dealership here in Sherwwod Park. It has been inspected, by an independent garage, for any thing that might need to be repaired, and has been given a "clean bill of health".

Fantastic and Reliable Car!
Have owned a Ford Five Hundred since new and have had absolutely no issues whatsoever. The car is great on gas, extremely reliable, drives like my friends Cadillac without the cost. Would buy another one for sure if I need 2 cars. I've owned a lot of cars over the years and simply cant say enough about this one. I think Ford made a big mistake when they stopped producing them in 2008 but the cost to produce this vehicle left very little in the way of profit for Ford so they had to make a business decision.

The pro spacious and luxury
Bought the car 2010 with 140.000 km. Put 40.000 km in and over $4500 for maintanance and repair.

The cons:
Underpowered engine, gas consumption 13-14l in the city, 10l on the highway. Seats are too soft for longer rides.

Got the sway bar replaced, brakes, disks, alternator and some light bulbs. Biggest issue are the catalyc converters. Had it fixed for $1300 two years ago. Now they are defect again, but repair costs has increased double. Tried to trade in for another car but the offer is ridiculous. Huge loss in value.

The pros:
Very spacious, full three seats in the back, huge trunc. A really good car for a family of five.

Great, Solid Car
Bought it when it was 2 yrs old with 170,000km. Now has over 240,000km. Gets 30mpg on the highway. Luxurious car without the luxurious price. Well worth the money. Never let me down. Only problems have been some front-end, steering parts needed to be replaced.

After 5 years I still love this car. Usually by now I would be looking for something newer and more modern, but I wouldn't part with my 500 for anything. It still runs as good as when I bought it.

The thinking man,s Volvo
Owned for 3 Years.Built on a Volvo platform, spacious throughout with very good ease of entry and great visibility from an almost midsize SUV cabin with higher than normal seating.Usual maintenance with brake components (Rotors,Pads) replaced at 75,000.Cat back exhaust system and battery replaced at 100,000.Comfortable, pleasurable driving large car with 3.0 litre V6 and 6-Speed Aisin automatic.Somewhat heavy vehicle and some say under-powered at 203 HP,although we find it adequate for normal use.Ford reliability so far, good value and easily serviced.

Excellent all around family vehicle!
This car has been with our family for a few years now and it's been steady and reliable the whole time. It was there when we got married, when we had our first son, and it's been my car as I've started my own business too. I can easily drop our little one off at school and head strait to a clients for a meeting knowing that I'll get there in comfort and a bit of style, which is all I need. I love this car!

It's a sleeper
Have had it for 3.5 years and other than an annoying instrument panel repair (which I think should have been a safety recall...), car has been flawless. Wonderful to drive, decent fuel mileage around town and spectacular when you get it on the highway. I once got 870 km on a tank of gas. Doesn't look like much but drives great and has all the options and has a massive trunk. I didn't intend to own it very long but can't seem to part with it.

Ford Five Hundred - A good buy?
The 2005 Ford Five Hundrer is a very spacious and very comfortable vehicle. The trunk space is amongst the best I've seen in a family sadan... Plenty of room for all your stuff! The back seat offers a lot of leg room for the passengers and allows comfort for all travelers. For such a large car, the gas mileage is average but worth the compromise. It's weight and AWD option make it a very good car in the winter that carries itself quite well. With the Five Hundred, you can get very good acceleration when you put the pedal to the floor. No problems passing on the highway. Where the Five Hundred lacks is in it's exterior design. For a car that offers so much, it lacks a lot of style. Very plain looking. Also, as many domestic cars, it didn't take long for the paint at the bottom of the doors or around the wheel wells to start flaking and peeling.

Overall, a very good car. At 295 000 km, I still enjoy mine!
