Kia Optima 2002-2016Change

The 2013 Kia Optima is a decent car with few negatives. Over the last 3 years I've owned the car, my only real complaint is with the automatic traction control. It is WAY TO SENSITIVE, and yes that needed all capital letters. all though there is a button to turn this on and off, its automatically on whenever you start the engine. it doesn't make a difference if its pouring rain or if theres a puddle on the intersection or some loose gravel. if its under the tires, it kicks in when you press the gas and jerks the car violently by braking automatically. this has almost caused accidents based on me trying to accelerate to turn into a lane where i normally would have a ton of room to get up to speed. instead I'm just cutting it close and have the car behind me laying on its horn. I really hope newer models are addressing this issue.

I have never had a problem with my Kia Optima. It is very smooth driving and it has great acceleration. Gas mileage is terrific on the highway, but city driving uses much more gas. It is very comfortable for the driver and passengers and there are many accessories that I got with my purchase. I am extremely satisfied with this car, and I highly recommend it to everyone. I would purchase another Kia Optima in the future. I have yet to find anything that I don't like about it.

I've had this car for 3 years already and bought it used (5 years old to date). So far, I haven't had too many major issues with it. If you plan on getting this car, make sure you have extended warranty, because Kia doesn't have the most reliable vehicles.

I've had this car for approximately 2 years. Great for road trips etc. due to its good fuel economy. If your preference is in a car with flaring interior and exterior designs and specifications, this car ain't for you. However, as a family man, it proves dividends.

The optima is a great value vehicle. Great on fuel economy, although the interior design on the basic model could be upgraded. Overall a great value vehicle with great fuel economy

it is beautiful with loads of beauty. It is a fine piece of art. Everyone should buy.It is the best car ever and I believe that you , yes you, should buy this car. The other potions don't matter, this one does. So, get this car,,oKAY? JUST DO IT!

Drives very smooth and economical. Never had any issue with it, fully recommend to others and Dealership maintenance is affordable.

The car is very economical and comfortable and low maintenance. The most importantly, this car won't give up on you.

From domestics, to Japanese imports, I've owned everything from a Mini Cooper to a GMC Sierra and everything in between. I traded in my fully loaded 2011 Honda Civic EX-L for this Optima. The trade value of the Civic exceeded the price of the used Optima and I walked out of the dealership with a cheque in my pocket. To say these cars are a great value is an understatement. To have a low end (LX+) Optima with more options and features than a fully loaded Civic even had was tremendous. Standard heated seats, panoramic roof, Bluetooth, air, fog lights and more all standard? Not to mention the 2.4L GDI engine (now at 100,000km on mine) including 2 trips across Canada, has been absolutely flawless in it's operation. The only maintenance I have had to spend on this car in 2 years was replacing the original tires, front brake pads and rotors and routine oil changes. Absolutely reliable car that I never have to worry about and is a dream to drive. Fantastic road manners, excellent seating position and acres of room inside for both front and rear passengers alike. Without a doubt, the Optima is one of the best values for a midsize sedan on the market today. Unfortunately it is so under rated and shadowed by the Hyundai Sonata that it has not had it's chance to shine in the spotlight. Once you give the Optima a look, you will be sold on it. Best car I have ever owned and would happily purchase another one in a heartbeat.

No lack of power with a very decent fuel economy. Even the basic model has all your essential needs. Looks pretty sharp as well. 0 complaints about it!

Took several months to locate a EX Luxury Edition, but worth the wait. Smooth ride, great comfort and finish but maybe a tad under-powered. Nice @ 200hp but have to really stand on it for some highway on-ramps. Great feature line-up for the money that will rival the luxury lines at half the cost. The styling is great and you can see the borrowed lines from the Audi lines. Engine and exhaust can come off as a little "tinnie sounding", but not overly or I have gotten used to it. A great factory (transferable) warranty make this a solid value.

The Optima contrasts with a sporty, European-tinged look with a lower roofline, stretched headlamps, and a nifty upkick in its rear quarters. It's exciting--focused, clean, laid-back, with an athletic stance and flashy chrome wheels. The interior's a fine match, with a big set of gauges and a wide rectangular bank of controls canted toward the driver, ersatz Audi with almost all of the sophistication and less clutter. Features remain a strength throughout the Kia lineup, and the Optima is no exception. It's a lot of value for the money, with standard power features, cruise control, a USB port and satellite radio. The Optima has an excellent safety record. The NHTSA awards it five stars in all categories in which it tests, and the IIHS calls it a Top Safety Pick. Ride and handling fit into the upper echelon of the segment. The engines work well in concert with the independent suspension, giving the Optima a quick, nimble feel. The Optima's steering is a little hefty and responds quickly, doing a better job than the similar Sonata at controlling a little bit of wandering that comes with some kinds of road surfaces and its fuel-economy-aiding tires. All the while, ride quality is firm but comfortable, and the Optima's cabin is a quiet, refined place to be.

Best car I've ever owned!! Just a shame that I don't make enough money to cover the car payments! If for whatever reason, I fall into some cash in the very near future...I would pull the listing and keep the car for myself! The ride is amazing and the feel and control of the car is smooth! All the options this car has for a base model is mind blowing! Rest assured that this car will not disappoint and will last any driver a very long time as long as it's well cared for!!

This car is great but looking to upgrade to a truck. Gas mileages is awsome. Had the car since June, no issues. Great trunk space!

I've had 2 model years of the optima..2011 & 2013..not much changed..I just got a decent offer for trade in from the dealer. Over all very happy with the purchase..superb exterior styling..possibly the best looking mid size sedan..very good performance as well..fuel economy, a little disappointed..everything else great..the steering is very sensitive..and a bit stikcy..car is a lil noisy..but over all still a fantastic car, so far..the 2013 is only been 3 months..but had the 2011 for over a year..and no problems whatsoever..will go for a optima for my other car too probably..maybe a higher trim..

At first, fuel economy was (according to screen inside speed tracker) around 7-9 L/100km but as soon as this winter came (Winter 2013) it went up to a peak of 14L/100km and averaged around 11. But the pros of this car are many, Bluetooth, touch screen display, Sirius trial, USB for iPod nano and such, and many more features, and I mean many more. Smooth ride. I've only had this car for about a year so please feel free to comment. Never had any accidents or problems with this car except recently a minor problem with the software, the power button for the radio did not work. It worked after I left my car though. Great car overall and it wows you for the first 2 months, then after you get used to the luxury.

I have bought this car second hand and do not do a lot of driving with it. The mileage I get with it is not great and as an older car, I have had to replace many parts and that can be expensive. This is to be expected with and older model but this car is very tempermental s well. You have to handle it with kid gloves and it is an expensive vehicle to own if you cannot do the mechanic work yourself. The parts are not always easy to get and if you are on a budget, this car can really drain your funds quickly. Yes it is an old model so if you think this will be a cheap alternative to a newer model, may be you should look elsewhere!

I did alot of research and driving before purchasing this mid-size vehicle. My main concerns where saftey and reliability as we were having a new born. As KIA doesn't have a long reputable past this was a slight gamble. But seems to have been a good move so far, trouble free for almost a year now (as new cars should be).

But several factors lead me toward this vehicle compared to others. Personally I've owned an Elantra, made by of course Hyundai, the sister company to KIA and had no problems even at 300,000kms. Also had been keeping a watch over the car reviews and forum threads to see what complaints or experiences that the "Pro's" and real customers had. Overall very positive.

So how has my experience been so far? Its been quite Enjoyable.

First, Styling, this is what impressed me first and make me take a second look at KIA. Not many sedans out there that can do that and I still find myself admiring my ride. Comfort, I find that I have plenty of room for me (6’1) and my family. We often have others with us and even with the car seat two can sit fairly comfortably in the back.
Performance, I really enjoy how this vehicle drives, not too stiff nor lack, and comfortable enough over bumpy roads with a bit of sporty aggression. While I usually leave it on ECO mode the car packs plenty of power. Fuel efficiency in city is average, but I can get a little over 1000kms on the highway.

Again, very happy so far with my purchase.

Just had the car a few days but I have to admit that it is one of the best cars I have owned . After finding out that you need to click the lock twice to turn off headlights in auto I have found everything including the navi system easy to use and everything works well. I agree with some that the car is a bit noisey but all things being equal WOW. Alreay people have stopped by my car and enquired what car it was . Way better value than BMW and looks way better than Hond accord or Ford Fusion. No wonder the car has won so many awards . I just love it

Bought due to the eye catching design of the car. Always bought jap cars but I realized these korean cars aren't too bad. Overall great car

A very comfortable car. Lots of interior room in the front and back. Great performance in the cite. Nimble very easy to drive. Fuel economy is antastic. Spokane WA to Medicine Hat AB on just mover 3/4 tank of fuel! The only complaint is the cloth seats have started to fray slightly. Other than that lovethis car!

All around happiness. Compared to other similar class models, I feel like my Optima becomes an extension of me when I strap myself in the seat.
