2001 Pontiac Aztek

by JohnFKenndy2013 on 11-26-2013
replaced head casket 3 times in 200 km
poor visability for tall driver, rough ride in four wheel version, no rear wiper, tail gate drops down making poor trunk accessability, over size convex side mirrors that i found inaffective, poor location for interior light, seats did fold up well for cargo, never used tent, it did have great traction in snow and was fun for weekend ski trips to lake louise , if it had toyota engine would be good suv , the sun visor would not stay in position very fustrating but i could always find the bright yellow and black car in the parking lot

2002 Pontiac Aztek

Reliable
It is a very good car but if anything goes wrong with it you will be paying a lot if you don't have good insurance. I live in Alberta and with all the rocks and dirt on the road i got a crack in my windshield. In Alberta that's very common so its usually inexpensive to replace a windshield but when i went to get a quote i was told the windshield alone would cost a minimum of 600 then add on the labor and taxes. You don't even want to know how much the back windshield cost to replace. Lets just say you never want it to break.

Its a pig of gas, and the awkward back windshield bar is a pain in the butt when driving. But its really good in snow, i drove the rocky mountains in the dead of winter with all season tires and had little to no problems.
Another problem is the the fuel gauge tends to go all over the place but i think the float in the tank is messed and that's not a hard fix.

All in all not a bad car if you like camping and traveling or have a family and need a safe car. Not so good if your a student that needs a car that is inexpensive to fix and will get you from point A to point B.

pros and cons
its a well built car works good but makes you wonder whoeveer designed it was thinking or not thinking about because the back of it is not bad it just looks like they wanted to make a box like back and the rest of it looks nothing like the rest of the car

2001 Pontiac Aztek

Ugly but SOLID
Pontiac Aztek was a fantastic family vehicle. Solid, safe, with excellent interior feature that made it versatile and pragmatic. A little bit piggy on gas, but not one major mechanical issue with engine or transmission. Also no exterior body issues whatsoever in 7 years of ownership. One minor issue was the weight of the rear lift glass, too heavy for the gas shocks partiluarly in the winter. Also, solid for towing too. The optional interior "bike" kit includes cool seat covers that protect seats from kids and pets etc so they were like new when time for re-sale. Great allraound vehicle...but you'll never wash away those looks!

2001 Pontiac Aztek

An excellent dad mobile
I picked this up to replace a Kia Rio 5. For a used vehicle it has performed a world better than expected. Amazing amounts of space, room enough for 3 adults and two kids, and great safy features like traction control, and abs breaking. I hope to get is to 300,000 km.

2004 Pontiac Aztek

reliable
good for camping gear and road trips. seats easy to fold up and make space for trade show gear. don't like the back window bar as it blocks my view. also don't like the way the snow piles up under the hood by the wipers. otherwise no complaints.

Swiss army knife of vehicles
This has been one of the best vehicles I have owned. Loved the camping package, truly is a blast! Loved touring Canada and USA in it, was such an amazing utility vehicle, you could carry lumber in it, or camp in it!

It is a very nice car to drive.
I have had this car for 5.5 years and never had a problem. I enjoy driving it a lot and so does anyone else who has driven it. It has a lot of room as well and a good highway vehicle.

1999 Pontiac Aztek

Definitely made to stand out!
The Aztek was one of a kind in its day. Drives well, and handles fine. No major problems. I was able to use it for moving some furniture items as the back gate opened up pretty wide and I was able to fit a ton of stuff inside. Was not a fan of the grey unpainted bumper, but that was the style back when they made them.
