2016 Scion FR-S

Underrated
I bought myself this car as a birthday present to myself and I could not be happier with my choice. The car is absolutely beautiful on the outside, the front end style looks "meaner" than the Subaru brz. The red stitching in the interior is sporty and very sleek. It takes turns well and it's a super fun car to drive in the summer.
The only real "problem" with the car is that it's very low. If you want to take your grandparents for a spin, please give them a heads up. I wouldn't do any long distance driving with passengers in the back. This car is perfect for someone with no kids and loves cars!

Have had this car for over 1 year and its the most fun car you can buy anywhere close to the price range! Its been very reliable with zero trips to the garage other than for oil changes. Get one! you'll love it.

Cheapest Head Turning car in the Market!!!
This car is a very good car. To me a very good car is a car that is an all-rounder; meaning it is good looking, fuel efficient, quick, and practical all at the same time.

Loved it, but off to university soon
Its a shame I can't take it with me to university. This car has been a gem, my pride and joy. It is a very customize-able vehicle that is in high demand with the younger crowd.

Most fun under $50,000
Very pleased with the FR-S, I've driven a lot of different cars, including a few "hot hatch" sporties, and the Hyundai Genesis Coupe, which claims to be a competitor. None were as centered, felt so natural and clean as the FR-S. Has more than enough power, very fun to drive especially when revved. Decent everyday car too. Only drawback is the interior could use a bit more refinement, but the car gives so much for such a small price tag compared with everything else out there.

Great fun car
This car is the most fun car I have ever driven. I would rate it better than the early Porche Boxsters. You feel the bumps on the road but that is what make it nimble and fun.

Affordable driver's car
The car handles great and is fun to drive aggressively (within the limits of the law). It's a little tricky in the snow if you're not experienced with RWD. It could use some more low-end power, but the balance of the car really makes up for it.

number one
Toyota couldn't have picked a better time to make a comeback on the sports car scene. True, they needed a little help from their friends, and we've been hearing about the development of this car for about four years now but, oh man, the wait was worth it.

Scion Frs
This car is a great vehicle, I previously owned a corolla and boy is this an upgrade from that. It handles well and is like a mini sports car that is a good package for the price. I would recommend this product to all who like sports cars but can't afford the luxury of an expensive one to buy it.

2013 Scion FR-S

by Norman on 10-27-2012
It's so much fun to drive!
It's easy spot the trade-offs the designers had to make in order price the FR-S at $26K.

The interior is pretty ghetto, with HVAC controls and an audio head unit from the early 90s. There are features missing that you would find standard in an Elantra, like heated seats, auto-dimming mirror, and rear view camera. There's very little sound deadening and the ride is choppy. The engine also drones and revs quite high (3000 rpm at 110kph) - it's not a car you would want to take a long road trip in.

However, it does have most of the things that are essential to me: excellent seats with very good lateral support around the shoulders, short-throw and direct shifter, LSD, RWD, minimal body roll, and the ability to turn the car with the throttle. Although it's slower than a lot of SUVs and V6 minivans, it's fast enough for me.

Before taking delivery I test-drove a few competitors:

Mazda MX-5 GT

The FR-S rolls less, is faster, and shifts just as well. The Miata has a better ride and the engine sounds much better. Although different, they both handle great and are very fun to drive.

Hyundai Genesis 2.0 GT Premium

The FR-S is more nimble, with less body roll and understeer. The Genesis is much faster once it hits 4000rpm, very comfortable, much better equipped and more luxurious.

Mustang V-6 with Performance Package

The FR-S rolls a lot less (it feels like its center of gravity is many inches lower) and handles much better - the Mustang's rear was quite skiddish on bumpy roads. The Mustang's shifter is excellent, with extremely short throws. It's also much faster with a great engine note.

The only downside for me with the FR-S - I told my wife I was buying it to replace her 2005 Mazda 3, since my car is newer and in better condition. I thought she wouldn't mind driving my car and I would get to drive the FR-S a lot more. Unfortunately, that hasn't worked out - she loves driving it and is reluctant to trade :(
