1971 Triumph Spitfire

by BigJim on 10-11-2012
Fun British Sports Car ... but
Fun British sports car ... but not the most reliable. I think I put on more KM's on the back of a tow truck! Anyway, it was fun to drive and easy to maintain. I was always able to find a good mechanic that had experince on British cars and the ability to source parts when needed. Fun project car, but not recommended as a daily driver.

Classic British Sports Car
Classic British sports car, great for the open road and Sunday drives through the counrty side. Fun to drive and looks & sounds great, but does require a lot of TLC to keep it running smooth. It's also advisable to have CAA ... it came in handy more than once!

1992 Honda Accord

Trim: EX
by BigJim on 10-11-2012
Reliable and fuel efficient
The Honda Accord EX is a great 2 door sports sedan. Reliable, great on fuel and relatively low maintenance. I bought the car second hand and droive it for three years without any issues. It handled well in the rain and snow and was rarely in the shop. I would recommend this car to anyone interested in a reliable, fuel friendly vehicle thats also fun to drive.

1987 Jeep Cherokee

Trim: 2 Dr
by BigJim on 10-11-2012
Good truck for hauling gear, but heavy on gas
I purchased a 2 door jeep cherokee and drove it for 3 years. It was a fun truck to drive, had good cargo space for gear and handled well in bad weather. Fuel economy was poor and maintenance issues keep popping up causing it to be less reliable than expected. I don't miss the truck, but maybe that had to do with the burgundy colour!

1982 Toyota Land Cruiser

Trim: BJ42

Tough as Nails!
The Toyota Lnadcruiser FJ series has got to be the best all around two door utlility truck going. Tough as nails, that will take you through most terrain with ease and always reliable. All reasons why they hold their value so well. I owned one for 5 years and to this day wish I never sold it. It hauled large trailers effortlessly and was always up for a heavy duty task. The BJ42 was the 24 volt desiel model, a bit cumbersome in the winter, but great on fuel and the engine was low maintenance. I highly recommend this truck and am always thinking of a good excuse to buy another one!

2000 Mazda Protege

Trim: Protege LX
by BigJim on 10-11-2012
Reliable, fuel efficient and low maintenance
We owned a Mazda protege LX for 12 years. It was our second car, so when we eventually sold it, it only had 45,000 KMs! It didnt get everyday use, but it was an incredibly reliable, fuel efficient, low maintenance vehicle. It was relatively comfortable and easy to get around the city.

2009 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Trim: C230 4MATIC Sport and Premium Package
by BigJim on 10-11-2012
Nice city & hwy driver
I recently picked up a second hand Mercedes C230 4Matic. My wife loves the car and the styling and it drives very smoothly! We opted for the sport and premum package which is all the equipment you really need to make it convenient and comfortable. The car is great for driving around the city and comfortable on the highway. Even though its a V6 with over 200 horsepower, its a little slow off the mark. Our next C series will be a 300 or 350 as we both prefer to have a little extra power for when you really need it.

2000 BMW 3 Series

Trim: 323 Sport
by BigJim on 10-11-2012
Great entry level bimmer, but don't get the automatic!
The BMW 323 is a great entry level Bimmer. I opted for a 4 door, manual shift, sport package with performance tires and it was tons of fun to drive. I used winter tires for the colder weather and the car handled surprisingly well in the snow. The maintenance & repairs were a little steep, but worth the price as the car was such a pleasure to drive. I had the opportunity to drive a friend's 323 automatic and it was way too slow. I totally recommned the 3 series, but opt for the manual shift to get the true BMW experience.

2005 Audi A4

Trim: Avant
by BigJim on 10-11-2012
Nice Wagon ... for Two
I owned a 2005 Audi A4 Avant for a year. We went from a BMW 3 series to the Audi Wagon because we were expecting our first and were looking for a little more space. We were pleasantly surprised at how well the wagon performed in both the summer & winter. It was great when it was just two of us, but when we added one more to the mix, it was very cramped. We do a lot of weekend and long haul trips and even though we liked the wagon, it was a liitle too small for all our bags + the baby gear. Sure we could have bought a box for the roof, but opted for an SUV instead.

2009 Volvo XC90

Trim: R Design

Great Safe Family Hauler
This is the second Volvo XC90 I have owned and i have no complaints. Its a great, safe family hauler ... that happens to haul ***. The V8 engine has 311 horsepower providing excellent passing power needed for those weekend trips along two lane highways. Avergae fuel consumption (City & Hwy) since we have owned is approximately 11 L per 100 km. Although the exterior is starting to get a little outdated, the interior is very roomy & comfortable. We have the seven seater which comes in handy when you need the extra seats. Overall, i'm very happy with my XC90 R design.
