1993 Toyota Tercel

Trim: Base
by DaEmperor on 12-18-2012
My First Car - A Tercel
This was my first ever car that I purchased back in 2010. It was a 1993 Toyota Tercel base model, not even with power steering.

I bought it very cheap and there was some work to be done such as getting a vehicle inspection done, and fixing the fuel pump and such which did cost me extra in the short run.

Overall the fuel economy was great for this car, I filled up once in 10 days with mostly city driving and light highway driving. For a car this old, you can't really complain. It gets you from point A to point B. The handling was average, but the one drawback was that it had no power steering.

Which meant if you were to park in a tight parking lot, it was very tough at times to maneuver and get where you want to go. You really had to be quick when turning.

Otherwise as a basic level car for a very low budget this works but be prepared to invest in money for repairs.

2007 Audi A4

Trim: 2.0T Quattro
by DaEmperor on 12-18-2012
A Zippy Small German 4 Door Saloon
Where do I begin? The 2007 A4 2.0T Quattro we had came with all the bells and whistles such as Bi Xenon headlights, rain sensing wipers, dual climatic AC, auto dimming mirrors including side view mirrors, memory seats, power seats in the front, automatic drying ventilated brakes, and power folding side mirrors. There might be a few more to add minus the Navigation of course.

This car yes was small for a compact 4 door German saloon but it still had the power. Boasting a 200HP engine, you could get going from a red light with no problem or maneuver easily on the highway. Given the Quattro, you won't even have any tire slippage when flooring it or when taking corners/roundabouts/turns sharply, the car will keep in you in control, provided the traction control is on.

In winter it had no problems driving in snow, especially when changing lanes at decent speeds such as 60KM/H. Some cars skid at that point but this car didn't. Also to get in/out of the driveway in heavy snow such as 5 to 10 cms, it was also not a problem at all.

Only downside are the following:

1) Bluetooth was wonky and could not support newer smartphones. It was very glitchy.

2) The fuel efficiency on this car was average, not the best. Had to fill up premium grade gas as well.

Otherwise I am happy with this car.

2001 Toyota Camry

Trim: CE
by DaEmperor on 12-11-2012
Great Build but Under Powered
We have had our 2001 Camry CE model for 12 years now approximately. There are some few drawbacks however, mainly the performance aspect in terms of the pickup/horse power. Yes this is a fairly "big" car but having a 136HP with a 2.2L 4cyl engine is just not enough for a car this size. Nowadays you do have cars around the same size or slightly smaller with more HP. I guess it is the technology, but the engineers at Toyota could have slightly added more horse power to it.

Overall ride is great, especially cornering, although you still have to be careful around roundabouts. Gas mileage is perfect for this car.

Other than that, its just the maintenance that you have to do to keep it running. Currently the car is at its 160,000KM mark and I am sure it will continue to go even further.

Have been using geniune Toyota parts such as the battery and spark plugs to keep it running.

2011 Ford Escape

Trim: XLT FWD 4Cyl
by DaEmperor on 11-02-2012
A Comfy SUV
We have had this 2011 Ford Escape in our household for more than a year now.

The interior is and exterior is more truck like rather than a Cross over type. The features it came with are pretty excellent considering they are options with other car makes such as auto dimming mirrors, ambient lighting with different mood colors, USB, aux port, hands free bluetooth, etc.

The ride is overall smooth but since its a truck like/beefy SUV, sometimes over bumps its not smooth at all and you can actually feel it.

The pick up is decent but expected for a 4 cylinder 170HP 2.5L engine.

However the cargo space is really nice and the roof rack gives it an added bonus.

2006 Infiniti G

Trim: G35X Luxury
by DaEmperor on 11-01-2012
Japanese Engineering at its finest
I had bought this car back in September of this year from a private ad/sale and the price was really attractive and I just thought it would be too good to be true.

The mileage was at 178,000KMs and I thought it needed a lot of work done. The owner had provided all the paper work for the repairs/maintenance done - from the brakes, tires, suspension roads, bearings, etc.

The ride feels really nice and you can definitely feel the pickup for the 280HP VQ 3.5 engine. To top it off, the previous owner had added an aftermarket cold air intake as well as a plenum spacer (specializing for Nissan 350z/370zs) and for Infiniti G series vehicles. Thus giving a total output of 320HP.

Of course the HP does come with a price - it consumes a lot of gas. My average is 9.4L/100KM combined. Filling up premium grade 91 octane helps as it increases the fuel efficiency.

Overall, I am looking forward to driving in the winter to see how responsive this car handles considering it is an all wheel drive model as well.
