The 2001 Escape I own was purchased used from my Mom's estate (yes, a car driven by a little old lady only to go to - um- well, to the casino twice a week) with only 49000 km on it when I got it 3 years ago. Because I drive a company work vehicle most of the time, I only have 59000 km on it now. You would think that , because it sits for extended periods regularly, I would be running into problems with dried out seals and such problems, but I am not. It requires nothing more than regularly scheduled maintenance, making it by far the least expensive car to maintain that I have ever owned, even though it is 12 years old. Mileage is very good, so with my limited use I only gas up once a month or so, and insurance company does not charge any type of model premium for it, so it saves me money all around. Peppy little V6 engine gives it enough power and acceleration for my needs. If Ford is still making them as reliable as this one, my next car may be an Escape too!!

This SUV has almost 300, 000 kms and still drives like a trooper. I have had to change the brakes and some air hoses but its still holding up. There are a few small rust spots but for Northern Ontario, thats not much. Driving in the rain, snow or ice is a breeze and I feel very safe. I like the shorter wheel base for turning and backing up.
